What happens when I swipe left? Are my photos deleted right away? No. Swiping left only marks a photo for deletion. When you finish or leave a sort, Kip shows a review screen with everything you marked. You can tap any photo to keep it after all, then delete the rest in one go. Your phone then asks you to confirm, and on iPhone the photos go to "Recently Deleted", where they stay for 30 days. That is three safety nets before anything is really gone.
I swiped the wrong way. Can I undo? Yes. Tap the undo button under the card to bring back the last photo. You can also rescue any photo on the review screen before deleting.
Does Kip upload my photos or store them on a server? Never. Kip works entirely on your phone. Your photos, videos, albums and locations are never uploaded, and we have no access to them. There is no account to create.
Does Kip collect any data? Only anonymous usage statistics (for example, which screens are used and whether a sort was finished), to improve the app. No photos, file names, album names, name or email. You can turn this off anytime in Settings > Share anonymous statistics. Details in our Privacy Policy.
What can Kip sort? Photos, videos, Live Photos (Motion Photos on Android), screenshots and favorites. You can sort by date (any day, week, month or year), recent items, "On this day", a random mix, and with Kip+: duplicates, large files, by type and by album.
How does Kip find duplicates? Kip compares small fingerprints of your photos, right on your phone, to group near-identical shots (bursts, retakes, saved copies). It suggests keeping the best one, and you decide what to delete. The first analysis can take a few minutes on a large library.
What is the daily streak? Sort 20 photos a day to keep your streak going. Every 10 days in a row, you earn a freeze that protects your streak on a day you miss. Your streak, progress and the space you freed are in the Activity tab. You can also turn on a daily reminder.
The app asks for access to my photos. Is that normal? Yes. Kip needs it to show and sort your photos. Access stays on your phone. On iPhone you can choose "Limited Access" and pick only some photos; Kip then only sees those. You can change this anytime in your phone's settings.
Does Kip take up a lot of space? No. Kip never copies your photos. It reads the ones already on your phone and keeps only a tiny index for duplicates and large files.
Does Kip work with iCloud Photos or Google Photos? Kip sorts your phone's photo library. If it is synced with iCloud Photos (or another cloud library), deleting a photo in Kip deletes it there too, exactly as if you deleted it in the Photos app.
Is Kip free? Yes. Kip is free with 100 swipes a day and no ads. Kip+ unlocks unlimited swipes, every collection (duplicates, large files, by type, albums) and extra app icons and colors.
Is there a free trial? Yes, the yearly Kip+ plan comes with a 7-day free trial. Kip can remind you 2 days before it ends. Cancel before the end of the trial and you won't be charged.
Which plans are available? Kip+ is available monthly or yearly. Prices are shown in the app and may vary by country. You can switch plans anytime in Settings with "Change plan".
How do I cancel my subscription? Subscriptions are managed by your app store:
I changed phones or reinstalled Kip. How do I get Kip+ back? Open Settings and tap "Restore purchases", signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you used to subscribe.
Why isn't Kip completely free? Because we don't sell your data or show ads. Building and improving Kip independently takes time, and subscriptions keep it fast, private and ad-free. The free plan stays useful every day; Kip+ is there if you want to go further.
Will I finally stop keeping 47 nearly identical photos of my cat? Yes. It is time to let them go.
